The Centre for Research in Therapeutic Sciences (CREATES),
Strathmore University, Nairobi, Kenya, is seeking a research
assistant who will work towards the structural and functional
elucidation of the malaria parasite sugar-nucleotide transporter,
a potential drug target against malaria.
RESPONSIBILITIES
» Liaise with the Research Fellow to set up a structural biology laboratory.
» Search instruments and reagents/chemicals and request quotations for ordering.
» Liaise with the Research Fellow, Director, Finance, Human Resource, and Procurement departments to deliver on time what is required.
» Clone, express, and purify proteins for structural determination
» Remotely connect to synchrotron and collect
Requirements
The candidate should be a graduate preferably with a Master’s degree in a relevant Biological Science subject. (Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics, Microbiology, or Biomedical Sciences), Chemical, Systems or ComputationalBiology with a strong desire to continue pursuing
a career in research (Ph.D.). The candidate for this post should have a good command of the English language. Experience working in a research environment will be an advantage. Female and disabled persons are strongly encouraged to apply.
