Cookies are small text files placed on a device by a website. Some functions on this site also use browser local storage, which stays on your device until you clear it. CREATES uses cookies only where they are strictly necessary for secure administration, and uses local storage only to keep optional drafts or on-device news engagement on the same browser.
Authorized CREATES or Strathmore University staff who sign in to the administration area receive a session cookie. It is HttpOnly, marked SameSite=strict, and expires after eight hours or sooner if the session is idle. Public visitors never receive this cookie. The visible search field in the header does not submit or store searches.
Contact, collaboration, footer, and Research survey forms may use Cloudflare Turnstile to distinguish genuine submissions from automated abuse. Turnstile is a third-party security widget and may set its own cookies or process limited device and network information under Cloudflare's terms. CREATES does not use Turnstile for advertising or audience measurement.
Some features keep a copy of information in your browser so you can continue on the same device. News likes and comments are stored locally under keys that begin with creates-news-engagement. Unfinished form surveys by students, staff, and institutions may keep a draft under survey-draft, staff-survey-draft, or institution-survey-draft. These values are not sent as cookies and are cleared when you complete the survey or remove site data in your browser.
Because this website does not use marketing or analytics cookies, there is no cookie-consent banner. You can block or delete cookies and clear local storage through your browser settings. Blocking the administration session cookie will prevent staff from remaining signed in. Blocking Turnstile may prevent a form from being submitted.
We may update this cookie policy when website functions, security services, or legal requirements change. The latest revision date is shown at the top of this page.
