Better health begins with research that responds to real needs. At the Centre for Research in Therapeutic Sciences, we bring together scientists, clinicians and institutions to address diseases of public health importance in Kenya and East Africa.

Our work connects therapeutic science and medical genetics with clinical evaluation, product development and training. Through an open, collaborative platform, we help promising ideas move beyond the laboratory and prepare researchers to carry that work forward.
CREATES began as the first biomedical research centre at Strathmore University to create a clinical pharmacology and product-development platform, sharing expertise and facilities across institutional boundaries. The idea was practical: support health innovations from concept to patient, evaluate existing treatments for our populations, and give students and scientists access to the tools and mentorship that good research requires.
That approach brings research and learning into the same space. Alongside scientific studies, our training has included clinical-trial management, research data and bio-entrepreneurship, helping researchers think about how their discoveries can become useful products.

Alongside our Nairobi base, CREATES conducts studies and clinical trials through hospital-based sites in Kondele, Ahero and Homa Bay. This network supports research delivery closer to participants and communities across western Kenya.
